 “Art of Waste: Waste management and the Arts”

















PROGRAM

Day 1: Welcome the partners in Oporto with Portuguese teachers and students from 12ºE class. Panoramic trip in Porto, Gaia and Matosinhos. View of Artwork from Portuguese artist Bordalo II reusing waste as art material. Picnic by the Atlantic Ocean. Trip to Marco de Canaveses by bus. Sightseeing the town of Marco de Canaveses: St. Mary’s Church by the Portuguese Architect Siza Vieira, Public Garden, Local Museum, Cultural Centre and Public Library. Welcome session with musical moment by Artâmega students. Visit of the school.

Day 2: Contact with students and teachers from Eco School Club and Citizenship Projects, green activities and good practices presentation with students from 10ºTAS21 and 11ºA class. Musical moment. Workshops with art students from 10ºE, 11ºF, 12ºE using problem-solution World Café method. English Class, developing linguistic competences and communication skills with students from 12ºH class.

Day 3: Guided Visit to Tongóbriga (Roman City in the Archeological Area of Freixo) with Class 10ºTDM21. Our Water Footprint workshop guided by 11ºD class, Exhibition of the “Save Not Waste” artistic images produced in the art workshops. Reception in the City Hall. Cooking and Confectionery show by students 12ºTCP19 class.

Day 4: Sports activity: Canoeing in Tâmega River. Field trip with Science Alive Club, activity with student from 11ºD class about the biological and geophysical characteristics of the river shores and the effect of water pollution. Virtual Visit to LIPOR, Intermunicipal Management of Waste Treatment and Waste-to-value System. Creative scientific experiment on school lab identifying different plastics. Edward de Bono´s six hats problem solving in STEAM activity of reuse of plastics and raising awareness of about zero waste movements with a transdisciplinary approach with the support of CFAE MarcoCinfães and the students of 10ºTDM21. Save Not Waste Logo presentation. Closing Session and Social Dinner with Traditional Portuguese Food and Music performed by a group of the Senior University of Marco de Canaveses.
